Hi all, anyone started making their ionic cooling sytems yet? I have aquired an ionic air cleaner & dissembled it so far.. this is actually a fairly easy mod.. Here is the original LINK

I saw this a couple weeks ago on another forums. It looked pretty interesting but the biggest problem is it has no pressure. It just moves air. Which is good for intake and exhaust but not for a heatsink.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Very interesting! But those Ionic Breeze things are SUPER expensive. If are willing to pay that much and make heavy modifications for silent (or near silent) operation, you would probably be better off just investing in some really nice low speed 120mm fans and a fan controller. Still a pretty nifty idea though, I never would have thought of something like that!

You really can't have 0 DBA, the moving air it self would generate lots of noise, and I hope its one of those new Ionic Breezes with the Ozone guards..

Did anybody read it? :P

Granted the AMD may be cheaper and faster for a comparable system in some cases with some vendors. But I really don’t like the smell of burnt CPU in the morning. My K7 back in the day cured me of that. But if you really wanted a kick ass system I recommend the Intel Core 2 CPU’s and a good Abit or Asus Board. You should be able to get greater performance and less heat and power consumption.
I laughed to no end. Seems like a good reason to me to choose a CPU that output twice the heat.

Ever stuck yer hand in front of an ionic breeze? As the air becomes Ionicly charged it builds pressure & this results in airflow.

You can find knock offs like the IonizAir Air Ionizer for less than $75 including shipping. All ion air cleaners work the same way.. & since all you are going to keep is the panels, board & wiring its only a matter of fabrication & removing one diode.

True however the air moving in your system is not what generates noise the fans themselves & the inherit vibration cause by them is totally eliminated. I am thinking of the advantages for media center applications. If this full sized version works for me then I will start trying to aply this to sff systems using a small desktop version of the ionic breeze.

The fact it worked with a hotbox like that should mean it will be butter for the p4 2.8C system I am gonna test it with.

I wouldn't recomend it! Ozone emited by this thing is not safe, unless you have an ozone guard.

You can have 2 200CFM fans, say a 32mm thick one and a 74mm thick one. You put a fan girl in front of the 32mm one, the amout of air flow will be cut down simply because it does not have the pushing power the move the air at high rates with the restriction the grill puts on, but the 74mm fan will be able to move nearly as much air with the grill on, and with out because the blades are thicker and is able to have a higher air pressure when the flow starts to be restricted.

The Ioinic breeze cant generate alot of pressure

Also, yes most of the noise is generated from the fan itself, but the air hitting all the metal parts in the case, any little part sticking up, will create friction.. This will result in noise..Put a 30 ft dryer hose on a computer fan and go to the end of the hose, you wont be able to hear the fan, but you will be able to hear the air moving

I still think that the temp readings were pretty early on and not after long time under load and in a cool room. Put this thing in a typical household setup where the air temperature can exceed 85F and that Pentium4 is forced to throttle down from the heat. Moving warm air over a warmer hsf will only result in system meltdown. A simple very quiet 120mm fan pulling warm air out will resolve the problem of no air pressure thus no exhaust... OR keep the exhaust fan on the PSU.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
