Default 25cm Fan?

I'm planning on modding my Centurion into a Poor mans 900, and I'm wondering..do they sell those monster 250mm fans like on the Armor individually? I haven't seen em on Newegg, nor on a few modding sites, and I want to take a hole saw to my acrylic side window and bolt one of them beasts in. I could just get the replacement side panel for the TT Armor on Newegg for about 30, but I'd rather just get the fan seperately for cheaper.

Actually, now that I think about it, would boring a 10" hole through the Centurions side window be too much and crack it? If so I can just go with a 5" hole saw and stick in a 12/14cm fan.

I think Antec used to sell the 200mm fan used on the 900 in their site, but I'm not sure.

If your careful, you probably won't crack the side panel, but there's the risk. I don't really know anything about modding with machinery, so sorry if I can't help.

Score! Antec does have the 20cm fan, for 25 bucks. Not bad, cheaper then the side panel and Neweggs massive shipment charge. Thanks Yellow! That helps alot...now, I think a 8 inch hole saw wouldn't cause to much stress to the acrylic panel, but anyone have experience with boring into side panels?

Just go slowly and take your time and care. Pay close attention to make a smooth and steady cut - you should be fine. Also, make sure you have the right bit especially for acrylic - makes all the difference. A dremel is nothing without the right bit.

I would talk to Lokie or Twizted.............. They have their own mod shop, so they know what they're doing.

For the size of the saw, I'll probably use a my cordless drill. I've made plenty of cuts and such from working in a boat shop, but only on fiberglass and plastic. I can get any bit I need, would a glass bit be good for acrylic or something a bit thicker?

Hmm, almost forgot about that. Thanks again Yellow!

Be sure to tape the acrylic if you don't want it to crack.

Maybe a plastic bit? Isn't acrylic a clear plastic or am I way off mark? Prolly a metal bit would be safest.(?)

That's pretty large for a holesaw, you probably won't even find one that big (and if you do it would be really expensive). I would say just mask off the panel with tape, trace the outline, and use a jigsaw or scroll saw to cut it out.
Either a handheld jigsaw one like this:

...or a table-top scroll saw like this:

I have used both and I recommend the scroll saw over the jigsaw. Once you get the basic shape cut out, then you would use a round or half-round bastard file to finish off the edges and make it more straight. Then when you've got the hole as round as you can get it, touch up the edges with some 320 or 400 grit sandpaper to remove the gouges from the filing, then move up to 600 grit to make the edges more shiny and polished.
