Default XFX 6600GT VS Sapphire Radeon X1600 PRO

At my local shop, both of these cards are the same price, which one is better?

From some of the things i've read, the x1600 pro is supposedly a bit slower than a 6800GT. Which would you choose?

linkage:

that's a hard choice. they both have 128 bit memory but while the 1600pro has more memory it's ddr2 and the GT has the gddr3 faster memory but only 128MB. You do need more mem. with new games. I would probably choose the 1600pro because it has the same core as the 1600XT (which means it can OC at least to XT levels andd beyond, depending on cooling), while The GT is pretty much at it's limits of the NV43 core. also the 1600pro has 4 more pipes and all the new technology like the 1800 line. taking, that they are about similar in performance @ stock, I see more OC'ing potential in the 1600pro + having the benefit of the newer technology :)

Well said. They are very close performers to each other. It almost really comes down to warranty, customer support, package bundle, cooling, and overclockability.
