| [note: typo in title, its a x1950GT not an x1950GTS] I am in t3h needz for power! lol. My x1950 just can't make Crysis perform very well. Medium all @ 1024 x 768. Roughly 10-25 FPS using those settings. It makes me sad. But Mostly it makes me want to buy a new card. So I was looking at Crysis benches, and found the GTX to be the best, followed by the GT. Note the GTX costs an extra 200 dollars, so the GT is my choice. Now I was lookin for input on which of the 20-or so 8800 GTs I found on Newegg I should get. Any suggestions? Obviously 512mb, and obviously a higher core/mem speed is best. Last edited by Zambini; January 15th, 2008 at 19:35. | ||||||||||||||

| Personal choices would be BFG or Evga. Good customer service FTW! | I'm going to reccomend a mid-range eVGA card, because they have an absolutely no BS warranty, and they allow overclocking of the cards, generally it doesn't make a big difference, but with eVGA you can oc the crap out of them to get every last bit. Plus you can change the cooler, XFX and BFG won't let you do that. | ||||||||||||||

| Highest Clock/Great Customer Service: Newegg.com - XFX PVT88PYDD4 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail Very Good Clock/Probably Best Deal/Great Customer Service: Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail There is an offering from BFG but it's more than the eVGA and clocked 25MHz less - not worth it. | ||||||||||||||

| I do like that eVGA warranty stuff. Recently (last 2 cards I've had) I haven't bothered with that sort cuz both my cards were <$150 bucks. Plus, I've got room to add a non-stock cooler. My only concern is will my HIPER 500W be able to handle the 8800? | ||||||||||||||

| It will do O.K...but I do recommend an upgrade to a higher end. Take a look at the Corsair HX 550W on an AMAZING deal from Newegg right now. | ||||||||||||||

| Squinting at your sig, thats the non-modular 580w right? You've got plenty of juice on your +12v rails to run a 8800, especially a GT. I'm running an 8800GTS off a PSU with almost the same specs and no problems, and mines probably even lower quality then yours. The 8800's arent that bad of power suckers, a GTX will run off a good quality 500w. Last edited by Stormcrow; January 15th, 2008 at 20:14. | ||||||||||||||

| It's the modular one (Modular means u can unplug stuff, right?) ung. I don't want to spend more money >.< I went to eXtreme's Power Supply Calculator eXtreme Outer Vision - eXtreme tools for computer enthusiasts and used an 8800GT (512mb) for the setup and it pumped out 337w for what I use. (I also used 15% capacitor aging). With 30% aging it shows 381w. So how smart do you think the PSU calc is? Because if there is no need I don't want to buy one. I'm already not buying any new toys/gadgets for 5 months to pay for this. card. | ||||||||||||||

I would not hesitate one second. I signed up for lifetime warranty and all that in a matter of seconds on eVGA website.
