Default Video Card Drivers for un-microsoft systems

Yes, sometimes people actually don't use microsoft products.
These are links to the 3D drivers for video cards. 2D only drivers don't count. Feel free to contribute.

Hi, Lead Head showed me the site, I thought it had lots of potential and so I joined.
I use an obscure but cool OS called BeOS, and I hate microsoft and IE.
System:
Motherboard AsRock K7S41GX
CPU AMD AHLDA 1Ghz TB 112Mhz FSB
3 HDDs, 1 60GB Fujitsu, 1 40GB seagate, 1 10GB samsung
RAM 512MB Corsair Value Select
OS: BeOS R5 + BONE installation.
GPU MX440 agp4x NV17 64MB ram.

One should note however, most people have had only limited success with the ATI drivers... I have had none over 3 different distros...

Have no fear. With MEPIS linux, installing the drivers is as easy as going into the control panel, and waiting for the update bar to fill up, then hit install, and reboot! Then the drivers are installed.

Can you explain to me what MEPIS linux is? I've never heard of it and i'd like to know exactly what this distro of linux is that you are always referring to.

Looks like a completely GUI linux distro with supposedly better driver support then other distros. I guess they're trying to compete more with XP.

yeah, i used Mepis on my laptop today from a disk i burnt. its actually pretty sweet



Q6600 @ 3.6ghz (400x9 @ 1.408v)

Maybe i'll try it out on one of my spare rigs. Is it better than most of the other distros? I'd like to know the Pros and the Cons before I spend my time.

well right now im running it off the cd i burnt this very moment. all i have to say just from using it a little bit is its FAST even though its running off the cd i burnt. it recognised all my hardware right from the get go. the only real drivers i need are for my 7800gt, im really impressed with it! :D
