I would go with the 7900GT SLI setup.
If you have alot of money to burn, consider getting an X1900XT and possibly a crossfire motherboard.

Well, I guess it depends on how much money you are willing to spend...
The two 7900GT's in SLI will outperform a single X1900XT, but will also cost a lot more. I think it will depend more on what resolution you plan on gaming at. If you are at 1600x1200 or more, then the two 7900GT's in SLI might be beneficial (if you can afford it). But if you only have a single 19" LCD or something, then I say save some money on the video card and go with the X1900XT; then spend that extra money on a nicer case, faster/more memory, or a better sound system.

Personally, I don't really like the idea of dealing with two graphics cards and I would probably just go with a single X1900XT or 7900GTX. But then again, I only have a 15" LCD!

Good explanation Blake. I didn't have the time to get into any details. Just gave my opinion.

The X1900XT also generates lots of heat. You may want to make sure your airflow is good. Don't bother investing your money on the VF900 or AC.

Personally I would go with the single card. I don't see enough performance boost for the price when getting two cards.

I agree with Joker. For the benchmarking crowd SLI and Crossfire are great...but to the everyday gamer it really isn't worth it when you consider the priceof two cards as well as a capable motherboard. Plus, there comes a point when you really can't see any difference during gaming.
I'd rather have a single 7900GTX or X1900 XTX than a pair, and put the difference into something that will improve the overall system performance, like a good memory kit, a better processor, etc.

INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU

The SLI solution rox :) But its damn expencive.
I think it would be better to get two fg7600GT in SLI. Its faster than single 7900GTX.
You can save a little bit of money.

That's a lofty conclusion to come to based on a 178 point difference in a single, synthetic benchmark at one resolution (1024x768)...

I agree, the difference isn't much.
