Default Time to upgrade!

So i got the offer to sell my GTS for 200. So i get to upgrade my vid card again =D
I've been looking at the 512 GTS G92, or the 640 GTS. 640 comes in at like around 290 while the 512 cheapest is 320. Also debating between eVGA or some other brand mainly because me being the addict i am, i'll prob want to upgrade again within 90 days, with eVGA givin me the opportunity, but they cost more =(. Anyone got any suggestions? I know a lot of people'll say get the 8800GT, but to me i just dont like that card after tryin 3 of them (2 BFGs, 1 Asus). Can't get the stupid fan to work correctly and keeps my case too hot.

G92 GTS all the way. Its basically the same thing as the GT but clocked higher and with a much better cooling solution. 96 shaders and slower clocked older core, or 128 shaders with a very nice speed bump and newer, revised core? I'd gladly pay a little premium for the G92 version. Kinda like back when you had the 7800GTX or the 7800GTX 512mb, the newer one was better for a small price premium.

go with the G92 GTS as it runs neck and neck with the G80 GTX. only at higher resolutions does the GTX pull away (because of more memory bandwidth.) about $100 less too. not a bad trade off imo

bought the EVGA 8800GTS G92 OC 20 mhz higher than standard 650 from the egg. Just gotta sell crysis off now since i own a copy lol, then wait with hopefully new 9000 series maybe or new stepping for GTX i'll step up =D

Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

ok now i'm gettin stuttering with this GPU. I can't figure out if its the new monitor and its not able to handle 1920X1200 or the GPU's bugged. Tried everything, happens in MUGEN, WoW, even WC3.

*edit*
stuttering also happens when playing videos
Just trying to figure out what may cause it, can it be a PSU issue?

More than likely a driver issue. My 8800GTS 640Mb doesn't stutter while playing hardly anything unless I really crank up the settings in game. Your card should do much better.

Go to Control panel-add/remove programs and select the nvidia drivers. Then, select remove Video drivers only. Uninstall them. Then, restart and install the newest drivers from Nvidia. That should take care of it. Your PSU should handle the new card.

Agreed, anytime I see something like this, it is almost always the drivers... but I have seen rare cases of it being the video card overheating

Thanks HL and Corsair!

It was the driver, but i think it was me installing and uninstalling so much. I tried it in my Vista Boot and it was fine. So yeah reformated XP partition and everything works fine now.

Hey, I just bought that :P

and I'm probably just being paranoid but I'm for some reason still thinking that PCI-e 2.0 won't fit in my PCI-e x16. Even though you have 2 pci-e x16 slots and this card.

So your mobo took the PCI-e 2.0 without problems? or did you have to do something to get it working?

nope no issues with the PCIx16.
It was probably my registry that was bugged after installing and uninstalling 8800GTS G80 2 times, 8800GT 3 times, and 8600GTS once lol Prob drove the XP Registry nuts with the uninstall reinstall
