Default strange framerates in stalker

I've been getting some strange framerates and I would be grateful for any input. As you can see from my rig, it's not top-of-the-line but its still pretty mint. In the past I've had stuttering problems with a lot of games--and I'm sure it will never be resolved.

But, stalker--which is a good looking game--it's not really 'next gen'. Yet, I get some pretty hellish framerates. I play with the graphics settings up most of the way. No AA or AF, resolution 1360x768, silly things like grass shadows turned off. The outdoor framerate is ok, its around 30-35 but, the first indoor level you have access to, it drops to like 23 sometimes. This seems strange to me, does it seem strange to you? Even if I roll the resolution or other graphic settings down, it doesn't matter. I just recently formatted and reinstalled XP with clean install of all newest drivers and patches. Could this really be a PSU power issue?

Thanks

Na, I think it is Stalker!!!

I know someone with a 4400 CPU and he still gets frame hits and stutters

Maybe they will come out with a patch that fixes that problem, but it may just be a very video demanding game.

I have spent 2 hrs playing this game and I put it back on the shelf. I refuse to play this thing until they put out some more patches to fix it. This game is about as buggy as BF2 was when it first came out.

Ok, so it's not my system? As for stuttering in other games, could the PSU be related to that?

Does anyone have any idea why the there's no difference in framerate when my cpu/ram is clocked to stock and when its overclocked 600mhz/60mhz? I'm running the game at 1360x768, that's a pretty low resolution...

What monitor you have? Is that the native resolution for the monitor you are using?

I have a sceptre X20G-NagaIII (16:9). I'm running both my desktop and game at 1360x768, yeah it's a supported resolution--doesn't matter what refresh I run either.

The game has been patched. \

Chances are the resolution 1360x768 is hurting performance. X1800XT is a good car but may not have guts..

I dont know anything about ATI, I havent used one of them since the 9600xt sereis so I dont know how good they are. Is the patch the 1.1? If so that patch fixed nothing for me.

Is at 3800 @ 2.6 fast enough to power a new generation graphics card?
