| I've been glancing briefly at the nVidia 6200LE 16MB version that supports up to 128MB for a build, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO GAMING INVOLVED, and i can pick one of these up for only $25!!! here is a quote from part of its specs. "Single-link DVI support Able to drive the industry’s largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays up to and including 1900x1200. (Models with 16MB local memory support up to 1600x1200. Models with 32MB or 64MB support up to 1900x1200)" DOES THAT ^^ mean that you would have to add some system memory to the 16MB on-board memory to support up to 1920x1200? if so anyone know what it has to be? im asuming at least 32MB. thanks!! | no, there are 2 different models. the one with 16mb of ram does 1600 x 1200 the one with 32mb of ram does 1900 x 1200 i do know what you mean though certain video cards will allow you to use system ram as VRam |

| so what does it mean when this 16MB model says that it supports up to 128MB RAM? doesnt TurboCache mean taking from the system ram? wow thats what i always thought it meant... either way there is NO way that 16MB will run 1920x1200? even if i find the way to give it more RAM? |

| The Real Final Word | What that means is the different models of the video cards. In other words they have the 16 meg version as well as the 32, and 64 meg versions. You said that you can pick up the 16 meg version for $25???? I would try to find at least the 32 meg card. |

| from nVidia's website... "How Does it Work? The revolutionary TurboCache technology utilizes the additional bandwidth of the PCI Express graphics bus to reach higher levels of graphics performance than traditional video memory solutions, delivering the performance and features you expect from NVIDIA graphics hardware. By allowing the graphics processing unit (GPU) to share the capacity and bandwidth of dedicated video memory and dynamically available system memory, TurboCache turbocharges performance and provides larger total graphics memory." from what i gather, available system memory (up to 112MB in this case) is added to the video ram to heighten the performance of the card. so i guess this isnt a sold setting that is available where you can actually set the amount of RAM that the card has... |

| The Real Final Word | Right, what it does, is use the virtual memory, or Windows Paging File, to allocate up to 128 megs of memory to help boost the performance of the 16,32,or 64 megs of onboard memory. |

| 5 Minute Mod Man | Or just get a eVGA 7100gs ($40US after rebate), this is what I have in a couple PCs that I don't game on. There are others in this list starting at $38US, but I can't vouch for any others. Most of these have resolutions above 1900x1200. I know that would be about $15 more... but they are a good solution if you want the higher resolution. Good luck with the purchase. |
