I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Default Sapphire HD 2400XT Videocard Review

While enthusiasts continue to wait for AMD/ATI's entrance into the high-end corner of the DirectX 10 battlefield, mainstream and casual gamers loyal to the red and green can jump right into the fray with the 2x00 series videocards. Today HardwareLogic wields Sapphire's HD 2400XT, a budget card that, on paper, appears to be better suited for slicing through HTPC duties than gaming skirmishes. Nevertheless, we jump into the action, and we'll show you who's left standing.

Nice review. Seems like the perfect card for a budget build. Maybe the resolution is too small for a HTPC? I don't know.

No, it supports up to 1920x1080, which is the equivalent of 1080P. Here's how the resolutions shake out:

480i = 704x480 interlaced
480p = 704x480 progressive
720p = 1280x720 progressive
1080i = 1920x1080 interlaced
1080p = 1920x1080 progressive

Ah, understood. So this is pretty much a great card for an HTPC, right?

Nice that is has passive cooling. 27C on a passively cooled card? Unbelieveable!

Exactly correct. It supports high definition formats, comes with an HDMI adapter, offloads HD processing from the CPU to the GPU, is completely silent yet very well cooled, and at $80 (or $70 after rebate) it's stupid cheap.

Seems good for a folding machine also. As you said, offloads video processing from the CPU.

great HTPC card with pretty respectable performance for having a 64 bit memory interface. kinda makes you wonder how much of an improvement a 128 bit bus would make.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. How do you get such a high resolution with 64-bit memory?
