With the card you have in your sig the main benefit would be to the pocketbooks of the video card company.

| Modder-ator | SLI and CrossFire can really only offer noticeable benefits running resolutions at least 1920x1200 or higher with high details and image enhancement options (like AA and AF). Other than that, it is usually a waste of money and you are better off with a single good graphics card than two mediocre cards. |

Or 2 of the cards he has now! If this thread is about wondering whether or not you should add another graphics card to your system > if you can afford it, go for it bro. That is if you have 1920x1200 (or 1920x1400) or higher res. Other than that it isn't worth it.

A newer card would always be better than two older cards in SLI? eg. one 8800 GTX is better than two 8800 GTS 320MB? Intel E6320 1.86GHz Gigabyte 965P-DS3P Corsair 2GB 800MHz XFX 8800 GTS 320MB 250GB Seagate- 750GB WD Antec 900 OCZ GameXtream 700w ThermalTake Big Typhoon VX Windows XP Professional SP2 Razer Deathadder Mouse 24" Widescreen Acer Moniter

That's not ALWAYS the case. For example: 7600GT is a newer card than 7900GTX. Doesn't even touch it 1v1, so saying the one 7600GT is better than two 7900GTXs is obviously not true. What you described in your example looks to be true, though. But I would love to see a comparison of that. I imagine one 8800GTX would beat two 8800GTS 320s, but I'm skeptical about it beating two 8800GTS 640s.

if your running dual GPU's, do you have to use two cards that are the same ie. two 8800 320's, or could you use say an 8800 320, with a newer card, say an 8900 or something (something newer than an 8800) Intel E6320 1.86GHz Gigabyte 965P-DS3P Corsair 2GB 800MHz XFX 8800 GTS 320MB 250GB Seagate- 750GB WD Antec 900 OCZ GameXtream 700w ThermalTake Big Typhoon VX Windows XP Professional SP2 Razer Deathadder Mouse 24" Widescreen Acer Moniter
