Default Nvidia announces SLI-accelerated physics

Physics simulation is a rare sight in video games today and an effect that is largely avoided by game designers. The behavior of independent particles - often many thousands created in scenes such as explosions or fluid dynamics - need enormous processing power to calculate the effects of their collisions.

Hey Blake, this seems to be in line with our discussion concerning the quad SLI huh? Seems this article may support a refined GPU design/architecture in the future to put down that quad configuration.

I just read a the same article except on Neoseeker
http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha...avokfx-nvidia/

It was a very interesting read. I am more excited about this then i am about Quad SLI. I just like the whole idea of the added eye candy and realism which is always welcome.

This is pretty cool. IT means new games will be less limited and possible have better graphix.

Yes, they do kindof piggy-back eachother. Although quad SLI would definatey be useful for adding in such extras like advanced physics processing, I still think that they just need to make a better single (or maybe even dual) card setup that is designed speficially for the addition of advanced physics processing. I remember reading a while back about an actual dedicated physics processing unit (in addition to the GPU and CPU). I think I would get a dedicated physics processing card before I got another graphics processing card to do game physics.

However I will say that I am very excited to see more advanced physics being incorporated into games! :D

Your probably thinking abou the AGEIA physics processor. I haven't heard to much about that but i'll let you know if i do see anything.

EDIT: found something.. http://www.neoseeker.com/news/story/5510/ and this... http://www.neoseeker.com/news/story/5513/

Heres another link for you.

Our very own Greg King is at this years GDC with the focus on AGEIA to see what they are up to. We hope to discover a lot within the next few days to see what they are up to, and hopefully to see when we will finally be able to get our hands on an actual card. We will keep this article updated as we gather new info.
EDIT: HAHAHa. Heres something again!

Actual footage. From these videos you can see just how awesome its gonna be.
