Default New 8x00 nvidia gpus

Anyone been using the series 8 nvidia gpus? Cause i was looking around and i keep running into better deals for DX10 capable cards. Especially the 8600GTS from ECS, newegg has it for i think about 120, which seems like a hugely better deal than buying a DX9 card. And speaking of DX10, the midrange ones atleast, are there any noticeable differences between them and there DX9 counter-parts in gaming? Or is it still a safe bet to purchase a DX9 card for a cheap system?

EDIT::::
I ask because I'm upgrading to a 7900GS, and i havent really been exposed to the midrange line of DX10 cards, that and i couldnt find any ECS 8600GTS cards in stock.

personally i wouldnt get anything under an 8800GTS 320mb if you plan on playing any DX10 games. i have a feeling dx10 is gonna be hard on the mid range and low end cards for a few generations.

I'd go for a 8800GTS also because I have a 8600GT and it's about as good as a 7800GT in DX9 games (which is worse than your 7900GS).

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX
2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Silverstone Decathlon 650W

This rings very true!!! If you are even considering a DX10 card, save a little extra money and go with the 8800GTS 320!!!! I don't think that you would be at all happy with a 8600 card!!!!
