Unhappy I think i damaged my videocard.

After reseating my heatsink, i notice these horizontal lines that distorl the image displayed on the screen. These lines have the width of a pixel and when i played cs source, it went crazy on me. These lines were all over the screen! I immediatly returned the clocks on the videocard back to normal and restarted my computer. However, these lines are still there. They get worse when i stress out the videocard.

EDIT:

Its not due to an unstable cpu because i can use orthos but there is no increase in these lines.

EDIT:

this is terrible!, first my mobo and now my videocard! TT_TT"

Hopefully, you will buy eVGA products in the future so that when your overclocks screw up your video card, you will have nothing to worry about.

That blows big time. I was going to buy a new videocard but Polobunny talked me out of it. I would have sold you my 7800GT.

EVGA's warranty is one of the best in the business on paper, but we have some concerns over their customer service. Trying to secure review samples has been an 'experience' (to put it nicely), which to be fair we don't hold against a company as it relates to the end user experience. But on top of that fiasco, Rich just received his replacement 7900GTX yesterday for the defective one he RMA'd and the refurb'd replacement is artifacting right from the get-go. It happens (though it shouldn't), but combined with the back-end drama and some past issues we've seen, our confidence is wavered. Of course, there are plenty of users out there that have had nothing but good experiences with them.

It's a shame that BFG doesn't price their products more competitively, as those folks define the term 'customer service.'

To fps justin, if the 6600GT is still under warranty, contact Winfast (I'm assuming the card listed in your sig is current) and see if they'll work with you. Worst they can do is say no.

do you have a friends system in which you could test the card, or another card you could test in your system. Also, try removing and remounting the heatsink. Perhaps it made poor contact and heat buildup is causing artifacting. Worth a shot before you declare the card officially dead. Good luck bud!

Did you rule the monitor out? It could be coincidence and your monitor going bad, not the card.

Just delt with BFG. Customer service tops my list when buying a product. The RMA process was decent for one card (frozen fan) - for the 2nd, of course I had to put it back into a computer and boot - the card worked fine. So far the card hasn't had any more artifacting, but it's done it in 2 different computers, so we'll see.

BFG has just been stellar. Back in the 6800 Ultra days, I emailed tech support in the midnight hours and got an English speaking, personalized (not automated) response within about 15 minutes. And though it ultimately wasn't needed, they offered to RMA my card; no proof of purchase, reciept, or other hoop jumping required, as many popular companies have the end user go through.

They were basically founded by enthusiasts/former employees from VisionTek's fallout years ago when they went bankrupt.

Yes, something I forgot to mention. I ended up getting back a better card also.
