I think the ATI "All In Wonder" (AIW) cards are just like your typical video card, they just have a TV tuner built in. So if you don't need a TV tuner to watch TV and just want to play movies through your computer with software, then any of the ATI X1k series cards (X1300, X1600, X1650, X1900, X1950) will do you just fine as they have "AVIVO" (Advanced Video In Video Out), which includes a good decoder and whatnot for watching movies. The nVidia cards are also good, but you have to buy their PureVideo software (the competition to AVIVO), it doesn't come bundled with the card.

ExtremeMhz.com-Extreme Guide: Build the Perfect HTPC

I used this guide as a reference for my HTPC build. Alot of good info about video cards in this read. Also I abused prolific one and his generosity for HTPC info.
