| Hi, I've got a problem with my GeForce 7600 GS graphics card...but let me give you some background info first. I've had my system for alittle while now, its a EI System 5001 with 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 (533 FSB), 1GB RAM (Up-graded from 512MB), 40GB and 160GB HDDs, Lite-On CD-RW/DVD-Rom and Sony DVD-RW and the graphics car slot is AGP. I've made 2GB available as virtual memory on my 40GB HDD (C: Drive) as well. I bought the card a week ago as my system met all requirements and after installing it I updated to the latest drivers and set upon some serious gaming...but I began to suffer some serious "artifact" graphical errors. I then set about Nvidia Customer Care and their Forums for advice. After reducing the in-game graphics to the lowest setting and having no effect, they advised to uninstalled all drivers along with any on-board graphics drivers aswell and re-install the latest drivers, which didn't work...They then said it might be due to power...at that point I had a 300W PSU and they recommended alot higher, so I acquired a 550W PSU...which solved the "artifact" errors but now my system freeze's whenever I try to run a game Anyway, now I've uninstalled the previous "latest" drivers in favour for BETA driver that Nvidia Customer Care recommended to no avail. Now they are asking to disable any onboard graphics adaptor...just one problem...I've been through all the options in my BIOS, but can't find the onboard graphics. Well, I say I can find, but what I mean is I don't know what option does or doesn't control the onboard graphics. Its a Phoenix-Award Workstation BIOS and its pretty un-helpful. Any advice? Thanks |

| Modder-ator | First off, Welcome to HardwareLogic!!! ![]() What are the options available to you in your BIOS under what you believe to be the control for the onboard graphics? It sounds like you've taken most of the typical troubleshooting steps already, but what method did you use to uninstall the drivers? Try checking out our guide to video driver installation/uninstallation for more information on that. Have you managed to check the temperatures of the card? Is it possible that it is overheating somehow? I believe the AGP version of the 7600GS requires additional power by physically connecting a 4-pin molex power connector to the card, do you have this power cable connected? If so, try removing it and reconnecting or using a different connector on a different line from the PSU. |

| is there anyway you could take a picture of the main menu of the BIOS? I only ask because i have the same Phoenix Award BIOS (not the workstation though), and the option to disable the onboard is underneath advanced chipset features, granted its for pci-express, but the selection is under "PEG/Onboard VGA". So try and take a picture of the menu. EDIT::::: So i jsut browsed the google images for the Phoenix-Award Workstation, maybe this is what your BIOS looks like? | Modder-ator | Most motherboard BIOS's are a Pheonix-Award BIOS, but the names of the menus and options are all going to be different depending on the motherboard model and manufacturer. Mithosphere has a good idea though, take a picture of your monitor displaying the appropriate BIOS menu and we'll try and talk you through it. |

| Thanks guys, the temperatures of the card don't go much above 50 degrees according to nTune (I don't plan on overclocking anything for the time-being, so I'm only using the monitor option). I've installed an extra fan underneath the card, at the bottom of the case where the modem used to be to make sure over heating wouldn't happen. Also, I've made sure that the card is connected directly to the PSU on a line solely dedicated to powering just the card...still hasn't worked though. I've thought of writing down all of the BIOS options and then posting them...taking pictures is just a much better idea. I'll get on it now and show you what I have to deal with. |
