Default Gaming on a 42" 1080p LCD Television

So, I'm still in the process of buidling my Gaming PC. However in the meantime I'm trying to increae my knowledge on all subjest related to overclocking, modding, etc.
One of the focal points of my build is to try and connect my PC to my 42" 1080p LCD television, at the (hopefully) native resolution of 19200x1080.

Do you think this is feasible in terms of resolution, ghosting, contrast, etc.?
The TV has a HDMI inputs, which I plan on connecting to using a DVI>HDMI cable. Will my efforts workout?

Has anyone tried this, or are you currently running a similar setup?

Thanks.

BTW... I've tried hooking-up my old computer to my 32" 720p LCD TV (1366x768) and the results weren't good. Even at close-to native resolution, the picture looking like crap.

Yes, you should be able to use a DVI to HDMI adapter and use your 42" HDTV as your display and play games at 1920x1080. Any ghosting and contrast issues are going to depend on the display its self, not the computer. If your TV doesn't produce a satisfactory picture (you get ghosting effects and poor contrast between darks and lights), it is going to have those same poor effects no matter if it is a computer connected to it or a Blu-Ray disk player. If the picture produced on the TV from the computer is not good, then make sure you have the computer set to output the native resolution of the TV in question or else things will be distorted. There is also the issue of overscan when connecting a computer to a TV.

The matter of playing games at 1920x1080 will depend on your video card and the game you are playing. You will want to make sure the game supports 16:9 widescreen resolutions (like 1920x1080). Thankfully for you though, you have a very capable video card that should have no problem running games at 1920x1080 resolution. Most modern games support most widescreen resolutions (16:10 and 16:9).

For the games that don't support Wide Screen, checkout Widescreen Gaming Forum for a list of hacks for most games. EA games never wants to support widescreen natively so you almost always have to use a hack.

Now with a 42in you may have different results than me but I put my puter on my 65' mits........the gaming "looked good" the problem was surfing the net.
Text sucked........
I must say it does a wonderful job of every thing except "TEXT"
It's just not sharp enough to read well.
That's my only thing is if your going to surf the net be aware of this.
You say this is going to be a gaming pc so this may not be a problem to you.
I put Oblivion on it and I must say Oblivion on 65" of tv is well..........WOW
42' I think this thing will ROCK!!!!!!!!! Keep us updated!
