Default Evga 8800gt question

I have the Evga 8800gt, and was curious which program is best to monitor its temp and what is a good range of temps for it? the reason i ask is since the fan for what ever reason is stock at 29% (which i raised to 80% via riva tuner) i just wanted to make sure its not heating up too much while i play some of these games.. like bioshock/ crysis

Thanks :)

I've always use the nvidia monitor program that came with ntune (I think that's what it was).

Evga has a modified BIOS somewhere in the depths of their site that raises the fan speed of the 8800GT. You have the single slot version, right? I'd say anything around 70 and below would be fine, 80 is pushing it. You could always unscrew the heatsink and clean off the massive amount of glop they put on there and dap some AS5 in its place, that usually lowers temps by 10 degrees or more.

Rivatuner has a GPU monitor in it you know
Thats what I use.

For me, I have to have mine at 80% because if I go below that it makes a high pitched scweel that I can't stand but anything above 80% gets rid of the scweel.
Doing that, I don't see load temps over 53c.

I also took off the heatsink and put on some ICD7 on the core, the old gunk was worthless....
