| I've been running my system in SLI since 2006, exactly one year after I built my computer. In 2005, SLI was building up as the way to go in the future and a year later the price dropped considerably and I jumped into SLI. I've been incredibly happy with my performance and I am a firm believer that you will be able to extend the life of your computer with the extra muscle of a 2nd graphics card. Of course building with the idea that you want to get 3yrs out of it is also a key element. Anyways, are you running in SLI mode? | I voted no. At the moment, I prefer CRT's to LCD monitors, and I don't game anything past 1280x720 resolution, so for me, SLI is pretty useless. |

In 2006, the 8xxx was also released which handedly trumped the 7800GT with a huge leap in pixel/texture fill rates along with higher clocks. Even the 7900 in the same generation gave the 7800GT a surprising amount of grief. When moving from 7800GT's, I tried a second one just for kicks. I was moving to the 8600GTS' in SLI and needed something to compare to. The 8600GTS was superior in every way but in resolutions I don't/can't run (been 1440 for some time). For me, it's been like having an "Extreme" processor: Payed for but not delivered. And right now, you're still running it as an extension? Not to slam the machine, but the pair can't stand up to even $180 cards available today. You can get years out of cards without pairing up. I played HL2 the first time with a GF4 Ti4200 and lasted 3 years. The 7800GT plugged along in my box for 2 years, and still kicking in my buddy's box across town. There was no need for me to double up, and his demands call for it neither. Even the Ti4200 is playable, but it's not capable of seeing the perks incremental cards have added with each release. |

| No for me. I don't game all that much, and when I do it's only at 1440x900 so SLI is not needed. Plus, I have a P35 board so I couldn't even if I wanted to. |
