Default Biggest gain in graphics shipments

DailyTech - Report: Biggest Quarterly Gain in Graphics Shipments in Six Years

Quote:
John Peddie Research (JPR) says Q4 2007 showed NVIDIA and Intel in virtual deadlock for desktop graphics.
Quote:
The JPR numbers show that Intel held on to its top overall position with 41.1% of the graphics market with NVIDIA coming in second with 31.8% and ATI trailing in third with 22.8%. ATI’s 22.8% market share does represent an increase from the previous year when it held 19.19% of the market.
This does not surprise me with all the integrated graphics from the OEMs

Its just a matter of time before add in graphics cards are a thing of the past. I think the first sign of a change in the market is the new Hybrid design from nVidia.

AMD has been looking at "Spider" since they acquired ATi and it was not until then that nvidia announced the hybrid project.
It will eventually become 2 sockets on the mobo, one for cpu and other for GPU, everything else is handled by the system.... and eventually the gpu will be 4 of the 12 cores on the main cpu die itself... I am just curious how they will isolate memory for the graphices itself or if it will be all shared...
