I am still working on a spreadsheet that will give us some other interesting information, so the results listed are still in their intermediary form. The more data we get the better this database will be so post away folks.

- ONLY POST CARD OVERCLOCKS !! This is not a conversation thread.
- And last but not least be honest. It's not so much a competition but a source of information for people looking to buy new cards or see what kind of an overclock they can expect with their existing card.

There's lots of reasons. He obviously knows the X1600Pro is not as good as the 7800GT, that's why he said "downgrade". Maybe he needed more $$, maybe he's just not gaming as much, or not as into it anymore. Maybe he wanted to try a new ATI based card but didn't want to fork out the cash for an X1800 series. Maybe all of the above!

Anyway, a X1600pro is about equivalent to a 6600GT. In some cases the X1600Pro will perform better, but in other cases the 6600GT will come out on top. It really just depends on the type of game and the image quality settings you have enabled.

The above poster have nailed my reasons. I didn't think it was worth it since the only game I play is Counter Strike 1.6 and maybe source later on. I ran my X300SE 64MB on my Dell 24" and it was doing great except for the smoke part where I lag out a bit. So I figure the X1600Pro will and can handle the smoke without lagging up. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Yeah bennet, I'm sure the X1600Pro will play all your games just fine. You can probably even turn up the Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering a little bit with that card too.

If you are looking to save money, you should probably be able to find the 6600GT for less than the X1600Pro and it will still perform very well. The ATI card is more expensive mostly because it hasn't been available for very long and so the price hasn't had time to come down much.

Thanks blake, I forgot to mentioned that I'm running this card along with my Dell 24" so hopefully it can hadle the resolution. The reason why I chose ATI is because IMO, the colors are better than nVidia. I actually got the X1600 for $80 something so is fairly cheap.
