Default ASUS EAH3850 Trinity - three GPUs with one card

Quote:
We knew that CrossFireX would bring new multi-GPU setups, but we did not expect anyone to actually use more than two cores with a single card. ASUS proved us wrong, as EAH3850 Trinity is a tri-core card. It has three RV670 cores cooled by a heatpipe construction and a water block, all in a single card.

Now that's what I call badass. :D

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Prototype they say, so I guess you have to wait. But the pics are really mouth watering. Hopefully CrossfireX gets only better and scales well. I know that 2 HD 3850 don't scale super well in certain games and I'm left wondering what exactly is bottlenecking them...

Edit: Yeah watercooling takes 2 5.25" bays.

So maybe this is AMD's way of saying to nVidia and there GX2? Ha!!! AMD's gonna have to come out with somethin better that tri 3850's to be a GX2.......
But this would be a cool card to play with!!! *drools....*

I agree with you, but for the sake of keeping things simple they just can't go and tell people to get a WC setup for their cards. They can't really package the cards with more "custom" WC stuff either, because most of the time doing it yourself will cost less. BFG tried, and it failed. :P

I would really drool if we saw a tri 3870 hehe.

Why would it be really expensive? HD 3850 ship for $150.00 and under for the 512MB versions.
IMO, we're still far from the $600.00 you're supposed to shell out for a 9800 GX2.
