Default AMD indicates new card is 15% faster than 8800GTX

I'll have to see it to believe it.

Story at NGOHQ.

Oh wow, a 15% faster card for less?! I highly doubt that, but I agree with you, Tom, I'll believe it when I see it...

and the Barcelona is an Intel killer....
again the proof is in the pudding.

I will say that with the last 7.10 drivers my 2900XT performs about as good as my 8800GTX does when on a quad core system with an Intel board
and I do not have the odd crash in Bioshock or DiRT, or....

Yeah, and the HD 3870 X2 is actually 2 GPUs on 1 card. Not very impressive.

hahahaha the 7950GX2 was two GPUs and those cards sucked.
even in "quad" SLI
The overhead created by pumping the information from two GPUs through the same small pipe (a singel 16x slot) is too much for most boards.
granted with PCIe 2.0 you might see better peformance but I doubt it
the only people that really got SLI right was 3dfx and they were too busy buying $800 tiffany lamps and lost everything to nVidia.
Although the way nV is running lately I think they have some of the same people running the show now.

LOL this man speakers the truth.
Except for 1 thing, the Rage Fury MAXX was 2 GPU on 1 card done right too. Signed ATI. ;D

I will give you that,
those cards were amazing.
as were the Wildcat MultiGPU cards.

but I think the Rage Fury Maxx was not really meant for gaming.
Like the Wilcat cards and even the Oxygen cards they were meant for graphics work and reandering.
(in the days before the CPU could handle all of that ;) remember hardware based OpenGL rendering on graphic cards?)
But yes the Rage Fury was a great card.

At any rate, even if the HD 3870 X2 beats the 8800GTX, what can be said?
2 ATI GPU's beat 1 Nvidia GPU? Wow i'm impressed!
It's nothing else than a play on words, ATI AMD saying this is "the fastest card" since this is just a crossfire on 1 PCB...

Edit: I'm beginning to dislike AMD+ATI. Both companies performed better when they were alone.

That chart is not misleading at all, not one bit :P I like the bottom of it

"AMD Spider Platform Overview - DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - UNDER EMBARGO Confidential"

lol what? I realize the NDA expired but still, kind of a silly chart to keep secret to begin with. And I wonder why they're calling the compared card the "GTX-Ultra" as though they are the same card :\

Anyways, along with "C2D killer," AMD also promised the exact same thing from the HD 2900, so I don't have a lot in faith in that chart/the card. This is what we should probably expect:

ATI Radeon HD 3870 and 3850 Hands-On - Features at GameSpot

But if it really does beat the Ultra for cheaper, who can complain? I wonder how it stacks up to the 8800GT, the price:performance ratio on that card is going to be extremely hard to beat...
