Default ALERT! Sapphire Radeon X800GTO² to X850 XT! Save dollars!

I just found out the that Radeon X800GTO² can be flashed to an X850 XT! I wanted to share this with you all for future savings if any of you are looking for a good budget card.

The Radeon X800 is equipped with the R480 core, the same one as the X850 XT! Also, the memory is Samsung GC16 rated for 600 MHZ. But the X800GTO² only runs at 490 mhz! Massive clocks can be gained...

If any of you have this card or considering on buying it, an available BIOS file at techPowerUp.com ca be aquired. Flash the card, crank the core and memory speeds and bam! you have a X850 XT. The X800GTO² runs at 400 core and 490 mem at stock, the X850 XT runs at 520 core and 560 mem. The gains should be simple.

Chances are you will need an aftermarket cooling solution to deal with the added heat. I or Hardwarelogic am not responsible for anything you do to your card.

NUMBERS!!!
Sapphire X800GTO² (12 pipes, 400/490)
Stock:
Quake 4 (16 x 12) - 58.8
HL 2 (16 x 12) - 100.97
FEAR (16 x 12) - 31

Unlocked with Bios Flash (16 pipes, 520/560)
Quake 4 (16 x 12) - 71.4
HL2 - 110.2
FEAR - 39

As you can see, the gains are there! numbers taken from CPU magazine march.

UPDATE: Here is the techPowerUp! link: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/127

According to TPU, the success rate of this mod is 100%, no defective pipelines have been found in any cases.

The Connect3D X800 GTO can also be modded but the success rate is not as high. there are also two otherdraw backs:

Sapphire uses faster 1.6ns memory, while Connect3D uses only 2.0ns.
Sapphire uses a guaranteed R480 core, while Connect3D uses only R423.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220
