9800XT driver problems

I'm not sure if this is a video or system problem but here goes. When I install the ATI drivers the system reboots constantly until I uninstall them in safe mode. I've used driver cleaner and I finally got the updates from microsoft to work other than SP2. I have SP1 installed. It says VGA drivers not installed sometimes when I go to install older versions of ATI drivers. I have the windows installer 3.1 installed and working so the problems not there.

Maybe you could give a try to the Omega drivers?

I remember my 9600XT made "scanlines" with the official drivers and using the Omega drivers fixed that.

What did you do to get such bad computer karma lately?!
Have you tested the card in another system or are you certain it's a software issue?

Do you have the Microsoft .NET framework installed?

I have .net framework2 and the card was working in another system. This system is a shuttle AV14 mobo if thats any help. I'm have no luck at all with computers right now but I like going thru the learning process when I'm having problems.

You have the power plugged into the card? If so, check it again and make sure the plug is in all the way making good connection. Maybe the PSU isn't powerful enough?

Power is plugged in and it's a 430 watt PS only powering a 633 cely with a SB live card and a USB card plus 2 CD drives.

This was a $20 mobo and proc so I guess even getting it up and working at all is pretty good. The only thing I don't like is the way it scrolls without the video drivers.
