| im not sure about the tri-sli as i only saw 1 sli slot on top of the card. the 9600GT is supposed to be the replacement for the 8600 series of midrange cards (which if you recall were kind of a let down performance wise) E8400 @ 4ghz (500x8 @ 1.35v) Gigabyte X38-DQ6 2x2GB G-Skill DDR2 1000 @ DDR2 1000 5-5-5-15 2.1v 2 Sapphire ATi Radeon HD3870 in Crossfire Seagate 7200.11 500GB 32MB Cache HDD Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Silverstone DA750 Samsung Dual Layer DVD Burner Lian Li G70WB Thermochill PA120.3|Swiftech Storm Rev.2|Swiftech MCP 655 | ||||||||||||||

So really, the 9600GT has no meaning except to replace the 8600 series while the newer 9x00's come out so that they can completely rid the 8xxx in there cards... ? | |||||||||||||||

| i wouldnt put it like that. its nice to finally see a mid-range card with a 256bit memory bus. Blake and i were pulling our hair out with the release of the 8600 series as there was a rumor of a supposed 8600 Ultra that was to have specs very similar to what the 9600gt now has. so really these are plenty powerful cards for the price. i do believe they are faster than the HD3850 and cost about the same. | 9600GT 64 Shaders, 32 TMUs, 16 ROPS 256-bit Buswidth and 512mb onboard memory 8600GT(S) 32 Shaders, 16 TMUs, 8 ROPS 128-bit Buswidth and 256mb onboard memory (usually) 8800GT 112 Shaders, 56 TMUs, 16 ROPS 256-bit Buswidth and 512mb onboard memory I could go more indepth with clocks and bandwidths, but I think you can get the idea of the power of each card by the listed specs. 8800GT chews up the 9600GT, while the 9600GT completely dominates the pathetic 8600. The 9600 also ships with Nvidia's newests PureVideo that's found on the 8800GT and GTS 512 as well, so it makes a good multi-purpose budget card; handles games decently and plays multimedia quite well like the 8600 (which is about the only use for the 8600). | ||||||||||||||

| Do a Google search for Nvidia 9600GT Reviews. I think you'll be pretty surprised. Those sites reviewing these 9600GT's are showing some awesome performance numbers.
