| hi there i was just placing my order for a 320 evga 8800gts and saw on the homepage that there is a sale on the 640mb version so it's only 20-30 bucks more. as i was looking over the specs it was showing that the 640mb version has a 500mhz clock.. and the 320mb version has a 576mhz clock. is this true? or is this just a misprint? or in this case would it be better to get the 640mb version for a bit more? |

| it appears that judging from the 576mhz core speed that the 320mb version is a superclocked version. so i rephrase my question. should i buy the stock clocked (500mhz) 640 mb version? or get the superclocked (576mhz) 320 mb version? |

| Hmm, it really depends on the size of your monitor. If it's more than 21", I'd go with the 640MB. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB |

| I would go with the 640MB. Hopefully someone else will jump in here and correct me, but I think that you could take advantage of more memory because of the size of your monitor. | i'm speed reading reviews wherever i can and i read that the 320 acs3 version will beat the 640 stock clocked. but thats due to 80+mhz overclock on the core and the memory is oc'd as well. they were saying that up until 1920x1200 the 320 acs3 version is better bang for buck and more performance. anything above that or with AA.. the 320 will run out of memory. i cant go higher than 19x12. but i can also overclock my stock clocked version. any ideas here? |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | If you're only talking a $20-30 price difference, I'd go with the 640MB card. That minor clockspeed difference won't show up in a real world environment, you'll only notice it if comparing benchmarks between the two cards, and that's at resolutions and VQ settings where the additional RAM doesn't come into play. And keep in mind that EVGA officially allows you to overclock their cards without voiding the warranty. On a related note, where you seeing only a $20-30 price difference? Looking on Newegg, there's roughly a $100 premium to step up to the 640MB version, in which case I'd be right back to recommending the 320MB card... EDIT: On another related note, be sure to register your card online with EVGA within 30-days of purchase to be eligible for their lifetime warranty. Otherwise, it drops down a paltry 1-year backing. |

| Actually a more than 22" screen should get 640MB (20, 21, and 22 inch is the same res). BUT, if it's a marginal price difference, then it's not worse the sacrifice. |
