Yeah, saw that on the Egg yesterday. A very interesting card. Too bad nothing on the planet is playing DX10 games at impressive frame rates though.

Still, better performance than the 8800GTS 320MB for less money! I bet it kicks ass at DX9 games as well...

Well, some 320 GTS's already have rebates that put them a few dollars lower than or equal to the 8800GT's. Those rebates will increase dramatically over the coming days and weeks I'd imagine. But for sure, the 8800GT is by far a better value when looking into the $250-$300 range of cards.

I will wait until a good portion of the DX10.1 cards are in the $150 range before I jump in.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

When I got my 8800GTS, I did so for a few of reasons.

1. I play 99% DX9 games and the 8800GTS kicks ass in those. F.E.A.R. is about the only DX9 game that will bring this card to its knees with all the eye candy turned up.

2. I was enamored by the MS DX10 jewel like most people.

3. It kicks ass in DX9 games.

4. The EVGA 8800GTS is drop dead sexy.

I second that. I like to wait till prices are more reasonable. No need to have top of the line when it first comes out. Most technology needs some time to mature before it is funny utilized anyways. Screwballll I like the way you think :) ... scarey I know...

The one slot cooler, while sexy, doesn't perform as well as the 2 slots one. :(

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

The 8800GT doesn't put out as much heat as the previous 8800xxx cards (going from a 90nm die on the former 8800 cards to a new 65nm die on the 8800GT) so I don't think it will pose a problem. But with that small of a fan, it's bound to be really noisy...

Read the reviews though. Apparently the core gets quite hot... I think it's only a matter of time before we see 8800GT with a revised cooling or a lot of RMAs.
