6600GT Core speed Anomaly

This probably isn't anything special but i just noticed it.
Its similar to the AMD Cool and Quiet. Whenever the system is idle and not doing any 3d or 2d rendering, the 6600 GT will actually under clock itself.

According to riva tuner, my 6600GT is underclocking itself to 299.25 mhz. The Core vid also lowers to 2. Temperatures idling at 43c. Everything else like mem speed remain the same.

The moment i turn on a program like RTHDRIBL (Real-time HDR IBL) , it will jump up. It's a pretty cool feature. Not very useful but it helps lower temperatures when idle.

You can see the sudden jump, that is where i ran the program.

Just thought i would share. A topic to discuss you know... 8)

Actually its very useful....it keeps your card healthy by keeping it cool, and it lowers power consumption by "taking a nap" when its not being used in 3D mode
