| How much difference would there be in putting a 8X video card in a 4X agp slot? |

| Depends on what card. If it were some like like the new x1950 Pro /x1900XT AGP cards, there might be an impact, but if its an x800 or Radeon 9800, the impact will be minimal to none Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| Colonel Calamity | With CS:S or older games and standard windows usage, there should not be any noticeable difference. Since the AGP8x is essentially double the bandwidth of AGP4x. AGP was barely being flooded by the games at that time anyways, it is not until these newer games like Oblivion that really start to use more of that bandwidth and even then you could still be using the card at PCIe 8x and get the same performance. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Here is kind of a funny thing to note, Windows runs AGP at 4x even with an 8x board and video card!!! So in reality, does your 8x card really run 8x????? I have always wondered that. Granted, if you test the card in a 3D setting, it will tell you that it is running in 8x AGP, but it will also tell you that it is running in 8x in Windows as well!!! But if you check, Windows will report that the 8x card is in fact running at 4x the 66mhz cycle! |

| x850 Pro should be fine . Never noticed any bottle neck with my x800 pro unlocked and OCed on a 4x AGP board. Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |
