Default Yellowhello and old_man_gamer Blood Iron

Well I picked up a DFI Blood Iron this weekend at the Egg for $107 shipped.

Figured it would be a nice board to migrate my daughter into. [She is 13 and currently has an Asus P5B Deluxe P965 ICH8R Mobo with an E2160 @ 2.4Ghz 2GB Corsair DDR2 6400 with an older Sata drive in a Sonata Case.]

Gona bump the pc up a tad ... to a Blood Iron P35 ICH9R E2180 @2.6Ghz 4GB DDR2 6400 with a faster Sata or faster Raid 0 Sata.]

It will be my PC as a video server in her room to use. [She gets "new" but doesn't get ownership till I gift it to her ... probably this summer.]

So ... I have questions ...
  1. What have you found are very stable settings? [E.G. - Northbridge etc ... other than the CPU and Ram]
  2. Does the mobo have adjustable fan speeds that work through the mobo fan headers?
  3. Any other quirks or applause that I would be well advised on this?
  4. Yellow ... did you end up doing a review on the Blood Iron?
Her "Old" PC will be salvaged with some newer parts and monitor as a "Gift Build" for a friend.

1. I have the NB at 1.37V. Seems to work well for me. FSB is currently at 405FSB, but I have gotten up to ~475FSB at ~1.4V on the NB.

2. No adjustable fan control through the BIOS from what I can tell.

3. All around good board, however BIOS takes some getting used to (unless you've previously owned DFI boards). Many, many, BIOS options (especially RAM timing settings). Can be quite finicky at times though, I usually only change one BIOS setting at a time.

4. Have not done a review.

Thanks Nate ... I do appreciate your feedback.

Man I hate it when mobos don't have adjustable fan headers. Oh well ... I am kinda excited about the board. Good price for P35/ICH9R.

I have a stock of different fans to try ... two are almost silent ... so if they cannot be adjusted ... then I'll have to resort to the expensive fans to keep the noise down.

What about SpeedFan? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the board though, I'll have to try it out...

EDIT: Whoops, all my fans are plugged into the PSU, not the board... so hopefully you can test it.

I have tried speedfan ... it works ... but not as well as adjustable voltage headers.
