Default XFX 680i LT

So i just picked up this MB for my brother's Q6600 build. 1st thing was it didn't like being booted with 2 dimms of ram installed, so took one out. Next the USB lost power, had to use serial for keyboard and re-enable the USB keyboard/mouse. Then installed Windows XP with no issues, trying to install the Linksys USB300N doggle, and it wont power on. Any ideas with this Board b4 i return it and get a P35 board @_@/

It's a 680i, my only advice is to avoid like the plague.
For one thing, the LT is a major pain...you simply have to make sure you have the newest BIOS installed installed for it. I don't have a USB issue, but similiar RAM problems which are widespread throughout the 680i line. You could check to be sure both USB1.1 AND 2.0 are supported, but before anything else make sure to flash to the newest BIOS.

before throwing in the towel, try flashing to the latest bios to see if that fixes any of the issues.

just flashed the latest bios (xfx is retarded wont let you d/l without S/N) and still doesnt' work. It installs the drivers, but just gets me the windows msg "new hardware may not work properly because it wasn't installed properly". Going into device manager, it shows that it can't power it on. Now i've tried this USB doggle on my computer and it works with no prob, swapped it with another one and still the same problem. Guess i'll return this and get a GA-P35-DS3L for him. Last time i'll ever try the Nvidia chipset thats for sure.

Go choice - throw in the towel before it has a chance to futz with other components, particularly the RAM.
