Default Whattaya think -

Of THIS mobo

Never dealt with Biostar, so have no idea if they are any good. Can't afford a new build - I lust after one of the AMD dual-core and dual sli - but my current (don't laugh) Soyo is getting ready to go down for good, I think. So I just need something I can transfer all my hardware onto until it is rebuild time.

P4 2Ghz, soyo dragon2 mobo, 3x256 pc3200, radeon 9200 128Mb, pioneer 4x cd/dvd combo, 40G + 80G Hdds, pinnacle firewire, onboard sound, 35W psu

Directcanada.com: ASRock P4I65G ($50.76 + $9.99 SH + tx)
Asrock website: ASRock Motherboard - Product - P4i65G - Overview

We sell those at work for people who don't want to pay for a new rig when their s478 mobo died. So far so good.

thats a pretty decent setup polo!

I myself have not had any problems with Biostar but they are low end budget boards, much like the older ECS and PCChips boards. Also I am not a big fan of VIA chipsets so i would look for something more like polo's suggestion. ASRock being Asus' budget series boards are still made at the same quality fab lines as Asus' are.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Polo - thanks for the link. Dunno about your dealer, though, never dealt with them. Any good? Problems? I see NCIX has the same critter for $10 more, and I've dealt with them a fair bit.

Hey, it works for me and I really don't have the bucks to build anything faster. Besides, when I do get around to that major rebuild, I can treat my daughter/wife/son to a 'new' system by giving my old one to them.

In that case, go for it. You really don't need onboard video. However it does come in handy if your video card goes tits up.

Which is exactly what happened with my daughter's system, the onboard video blew. Still not sure if the entire mobo is gone.
