Default problem coming out of sleep mode

Anytime I try to turn my computer on from sleep mode, it never works. Everything lights up, and my video card fan spins really fast and makes lots of noise, but that's about all it does. I dont get any video on the screen and it will do this until I push the reset button. Any ideas as to why it's doing this? TIA

Default Re: problem coming out of sleep mode

I've often had the same problem over the yeas on various systems. Do you know which sleep mode your computer is going into (S1, S2, S3, etc?) Often times this is an option you can set in the BIOS. If your computer is going into one of the deeper modes(like S3 or S4), you may want to change it to a more shallow mode (S1 or S2).

Personally I just set it to turn the screens off after 5 minutes, which isn't very energy conscious, but is much less glitchy.

This short article may be of interest to you.

Yea, it enters S3. I'll try to change it in the bios and see how that goes
