| I saw that board the other night and thought it looked really nice until I looked at the list of supported CPUs. How can anyone feel comfortable buying it knowing how things went with certain models of the pentium d on the first nforce for intel chipset. Don't get me wrong, I like the nforce chipset, I just wonder what it will really support and what it wont. --- I like the looks of the bios if they get the list of supported CPUs straightened out. According to the nvidia Specs for that chipset, it should have no problem with any of the Pentium 4, D 8xx or 9xx, or Core2. The two voltage options that I don't have and need, are on this board. The NB voltage and the FSB voltage are there along with the Vcore and Dimm voltage. That would push the upper end up for overclocking IMO. It seems to be an updated version of the C19 and MCP51 which is actually a nforce 430 on my board. Wish nvidia would settle on a name for them and stick with it. I've never owned an ASUS board, but I really like the manual. They don't leave much to the imagination and that is a very good thing. Oh yeah....one more thing I noticed..........no fan on the NB and no heatsink at all on the southbridge. That scares me. I know this is just a bunch of random thoughts. Not that I"m bucking to review the board of anything LOL!! --- It looks like Asus has updated the supported cpu list for this board. At first I couldn't tell the rhyme or reason to the list, but I think I finally figured it out. The only CPUs on the list are the 65nm cores. So, some of each of the following are on the list; Celerons, Pentium 600s, Pentium 900s, and Core 2s. Now at least it is easier to tell what CPU can be used in it. It really sucks that they left the 920 off the list though LOL!! Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() |

| I'm Evil | Personally, the motherboard market is a complete mess. First you have INTEL's new wonder-chip, which has about 4 motherboards that support it. Then you have SLI or Crossfire, with SLI soon to be supported by INTEL chipsets......the whole thing is maddening, especially considering the $150 price tag attached to these things. As to SLI and Crossfire, I was hoping against hope that multi GPU cards would step up to replace multi card systems, but it ain't happening INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| One of the posts I made in this thread that was deleted had to do with the support CPUs for this motherboard. Asus has updated that list since I made my comments in my first posting in this thread. The list now seems to contain all of the 65nm processors from the Celeron and Pentium 4/600s and D/900 lines and of course the Core 2. So it seems this board doesn't support any CPU that is the 90nm form. I guess that makes some sense. Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() |
