Default My DS3

a couple of weeks as most you know, i RMA'd my DS3 motherboard, exhibiting the bad sign of short circuit, now i got it back.

the Tech support i talk too was very polite and helpful with the technicality of my case...
he said due to the physical evidence of burnt clip on the RMA slot 1 they are by policy voiding my warranty, but he also said he cant do nothing, but after test of the rest of the motherboard parts, everything should be fine except the RAM slot 1, which he urge me not to use at any cost...

okie listening to the TECH support, i'm not using my RAM Slot 1.

make long story short, i got it back last wednesday, what a nice bday gift getting my rig back together, anyway giving it a barage of test, Orthos, INtelTAT, 3Dmark06, Memtest, SandraLite, for the past 24 hours... the only problem i got was 2 random restart...

well right now, i'm gana redo the stress test and run this little tweak:

MyComputer > Advance > Startup and Recovery > Settings > uncheck under System Failure > Automatically Restart

and this should give me the culprit of the random restart...

btw, i already taken consideration heat my CPU is running at full load with 54C-58C, nothing came up in memtest either...

so i hope my tweak above will yeild result... wish me luck

ps wow i'm pass a grand in my posting!

Who are they to say the problem was YOUR fault?

what do you mean???

this happened after sometime ago, right after cleaning the rig out of danders and dust balls with compressed air... my rig gave a loud shreking pop then shutsdown...

called Gigabyte, submitted pictures then they say send it for RMA. mailed it to them, then after a long excruciating wait, now i got it back...

i'm still crossing my fingers that my motherboard as the tech said should be fine...

In a situation such as your overclocking causing the problem no it's not right to lie about it..but you just blew the system out - you don't know for sure what caused the problem.

its almost 8 hours of none stop orthos test,

temp playing at 57-59C
room temp at 65-68C
no random shutdown,
everything is in stock setting

currently running orthos together with 10gb downloading files...

Telexan, they said due to the evident Physical Burnt Mark on the upper clip of the RMA slot1 they are not authorized by their higher ups to swap/repair/switch with another board...

physical damage = no RMA....

i was lucky enough for them to test the board itself... well, christmas is comming anyway i might have some cash to shed by then, only pray this mobo last till my next one is available to be purchase...

Default Re: My DS3

I have had random odd issues with my DS3 as well and will be looking to get another board come the end of this year
same board, same version 3.3, etc...
my issues:
#1 I use VOIP for work and home use, anytime I tried to use the VoIP on this computer the incoming and outgoing voice was cutting out. I tried different PCI and onboard NIC, I tried different sound cards, different Mics, the only real constant was the mobo and video. I get people telling me the same thing in TeamSpeak and when talking during CS:S gaming.

#2 cpu heat
I have the same E6600 with same oversized Scythe Ninja (with two 120mm fans in a push-pull setup) and at 100% my system is running about 50-52ºC, 54+ if I put the side of the case on.... with this cpu anything over 50 is getting dangerous so I don't know how your 60º temps are staying stable. I see most other board reviews and claims all over and they show 40-45ºC full load temps with the stock cooler and some have even higher ambient room temps then I do.
Time for a new mobo

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Have you tried new drivers? I had that board for quite awhile, and am using the P35C-DS3R for a lot of testing, with the CPU and chipset running much warmer than you guys.....24/7 load sometimes, and not a single problem here.
