Default mobo prob

im having an issue with my new mobo. got an mATX evga nvidia GeForce 7150/630i board. i thought i had everything plugged in right but it doesnt turn on. i get nothing at all. i took another look at the board and the only thing i can see thats may be wrong is on the power switch. i have everything hooked up rite (pwr led,hd led, etc.)but my power switch only has one connector instead of two. could this be the reason?

A power switch has 2 wires running the motherboard. Look around carefully if the wire isn't caught somewhere a bit out of sight.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

There should be 2 wires for the power. The same with the Reset button. The Reset button however need not be attached. If you want to test it, plug the 2 pin Reset wires to the 2 pins where the power switch wires are supposed to connect and use the Reset button as the power button to test it out. I wouldnt know why your case would only have 1 wire for the power switch, there must be a problem there.

If I didn't read your post right and it's your motherboard that has only 1 power switch pin, then refer to your manual and see what it says about it. If it doesn't give an explanation, or if it says it's supposed to have 2, then an RMA is in order...

it doesnt matter, all that the buttons on the case do is provide a short that tells the motherboard to boot, and as a result it doesnt actually matter which way it goes in, just as long as it gives the short that you are looking for. if that doesnt work, you can just short the 2 pins with something like a paperclip, or the end of a flat-headed screwdriver. just make sure you only do it for a split second, the mobo mite do something (bad???) otherwise, and that whatever you do it with, make sure that its insulated where you are holding it (thats why the screwdriver is the best thing to use).

Don't connect the LEDs to anything for the time being. They don't need to be connected. They are just there to let you know when power is on, or when your HDD is in use, but they don't affect the performance of your computer. And dont connect the LED wires to the reset or power switch pins.

I was just suggesting you use the reset button wires on the power switch pins to see if that button will power on your PC. If you get it all working, then go ahead and connect the LED wires. All the front panel wires (switches and LEDs) should have 2 wires for each, a positive and a negative.

If you have a speaker connection that will likely have a 4 pin connector, but don't worry about connecting that either. If you have a digital camera, maybe you can take a couple closeup pics of what you have to work with and then we can explain it a little better..

You can also short the power switch pins with a screwdriver or something metal to see if that turns it on. Did that all the time with my test station because it doesn't have a power switch.
