Default maximus formula problem

Everytime i try to make changes to the bios(OC), the board shuts down, turns on for about 2-3 seconds and then restarts. it will do this endlessly until I make it stop.(push clr Cmos button, reset button or power button on board.) It also does it if i turn off the computer and then try to turn it back on, but it doesnt when i just restart it. Any ideas?

Maybe your OC is not stable. Either bump up the voltages a LITTLE bit (like from 1.35 to 1.375) and keep a close eye on your temps or don't OC it as high.

before you do that, i have to ask have you updated to the latest bios? if not, then clear your cmos. or if you can, select load fail safe defaults in the bios. once your at stock bios settings, update to the latest bios for your motherboard. sometimes an older bios doesnt play nice with a newer processor.

I only changed the FSB from 333 to 334 and it wouldnt boot up. AS for the bios update, which would be the best way to do it? I did it on the internet and that doesnt seem to be working

Download the latest BIOS from the Asus website. Then put in on a bootable floppy or CD. Beginners Guides: Flashing a Motherboard BIOS

Are you sure you have the latest BIOS? The E8400 is a fairly new chip, so download the BIOS which says it has support for the Yorkfield/Wolfdale CPU's, if you haven't already.
