Connecting the PS in the manual it says using the 20 pin power cable may cause system to become unbootable or unstable because of insufficient electricity even though it shows how to connect a 20 pin PS. Another question is the 4 pin connector, should that be used just with the 20 pin PS or with the 24 pin PS also? This manual is not very clear on this for a **** like me.

I am not sure of the exact mobo, but the 4 pin should plug in along side the 20 pin :?:

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

The 20+4 pin should clip together, creating a 24-pin plug-in.

My mistake here. I have a 20 pin PS the 4 pin is for the CPU I believe after rereading the manual. Will this 20 pin PS work?

As you said in your original post:

Depends on what hardware it's running, but yes it will likely work. We get AMD AXP-M 3000+ on socket 754 at work, we use 20 pins all the time even if we can put 24 pins.

What Polo said. While there may be some instability, it's certainly not a given, especially if you're not running a high end videocard.

FWIW, my rig is running with a backup generic 300W with 15A on the +12V line... and it runs my system overclocked 200MHz perfectly.

Edit - Crap, I forgot to add that the PSU only has a 20-pin ATX connector. That was actually the purpose of my post... :?
