Default Help in choosing new motherboard

Okay, I got like another question.. =D

So, I was browsing around my computer, and accdiently killed my old computer's motherboard, and I was all like.. OMG NOT AGAIN, and my dad was like, YOU IDIOT to me, and I was like.. whoops.. so than I was all like... Mmmm, I wanna get a different motherboard.. so I was all like.. time to browse! so I was looking, and came to this

Canada Computers - Your Neighbourhood Computer Store and Service Centre - PC Systems and Hardware Components, Notebooks, Electronics, and more. (No, I aint buying it from that store, but in a different store)

So, I was thinking if that mobo is good for my computer... (old computer) or would you suggest Asus? Because Asus is getting me hard mad with no good mobo's with a cd-drive

I have the Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2 (similar to the GA-M51GM-S2G you linked to) and it seems to be very solid and reliable. The only problem I have with it is that the BIOS is very limited in terms of giving you options to tweak memory timngs and such. It autodetects my RAM at 5-5-5 timings when it is 4-4-4 and I can only change the CAS latency, so it is stuck at 4-5-5 instead of 4-4-4.

But if it's still good, than I should still get it?

It's nothing special, but it should work fine if that's what you're asking

The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is the part of the motherboard that essentially determines what the computer is and what way to run the parts it has (and what time it is).
You can go into the BIOS and change the settings for the different parts (like the processor and memory), which is the fundamentals of overclocking. Sometimes memory timings aren't correctly identified by the motherboard's BIOS and it is run slower that what it is rated for (or even worse, it is running unstable). So you can go into the BIOS on most machines and tweak the memory timings (for example) and set them to what they are supposed to be. But this can only be done if the BIOS makes those options available to change. If the board (like my Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2 for example) doesn't have those memory timing adjustment options available, you are out of luck and cannot change the timings from whatever the board decides they should be.
Now this is a minor example and a minor gripe, but if you are the type of person who likes to tweak their system or try some overclocking, then these motherboards with limited BIOS adjustment options are not desirable.

No, that is the primary IDE connection. The secondary IDE connector is just above it in white and the floppy connector is just to the right of it in black.

You can download the manual in .PDF format here and look at it if you want more information on the GA-M51GM-S2G.

Sata 3.0GB is indeed SATAII

And IDE connection is a connection between the motherboard and a peripheal, usually an optical drive, hard disk, etc. These things:
