| The Final Word
| ![]() Anytime someone asks about assembling a computer, the main item needed is the motherboard. This is what the rest of the system is based on and determines the rest of the items you are needing to buy. It determines if you can use dual video cards, which memory brand and type, and more specifically which processor. The next question is always which board or brand to build on. One brand that has always stood out for their reliable hardware is Gigabyte. Getting their start in 1986 as a motherboard manufacturer, their first products were "EMS cards" which allowed memory limited 286 and 386 systems to be able to use up to 2MB of memory. Fast forward a few decades and Gigabyte has made a name for themselves, not only for their EMS and iRAM "Ramdisk" peripherals and other items, but more specifically their motherboards. | Nice review. One thing about Gigabyte MBs is that they are usually reluctant to officially support socket 775 Xeon processors.. On that board I like the black molex for extra power... And these EP boards are sooo energy efficient and run so cool it's really a nice feature/ Quad Core Xeon 3210@2.8ghz GA-EP35C-DS3R 466FSB 2x1gb OCZ-1333 DDR3@1400MHZ Sapphire 4870 512mb GDDR5 2x Raptor 150 ADFD RAID 0--WD320YS RE 16mb Samsung SuperWritemaster 20x DVDRW X-Fi eXtremeGamer w\Logitech Z-2300 Silverstone OP650 54A 12v Rail Torture Rack--Custom Danger Den WCing Last edited by RangerXLT8; April 25th, 2008 at 07:06. | ||||||||||||||

| Well my DDR3 on my EP35C board is acting flaky, but DDR2 works perfect. Damn hybrid mobos.... Worst part is I don't know if the board is bad or the ram is the issue.
