bit-tech.net | First Look: Nvidia nForce 780i SLI - Nvidia nForce 780i SLI

a good review of the 780i.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

Too bad the board I'm getting isn't registered to me
I think it'd be a good plan to sit Penryn out and save up for Nehalem anyway.

Exactly what I'm doing (although that means waiting until the end of 2008, basically another year).

By then, another processor spec will be released by Intel, and the waiting game will ensue once again. ;)

Nah, the waiting game this time is because Nehalem is going to be a significant boost over Penryn, which is more of a Conroe refresh. Instead of buying a new board, expensive DDR3, I think it's better to wait for Nehalem and by then DDR3 might be down in price and the new GPU series will be in full swing.

I've decided to go ahead and do it. It would be my luck that EVGA would have a huge response and pull the offer early.
