Default DFI's New Support Forum

DFI-Street and DFI have parted ways (with a healthy dose of drama), and DFI now has a new official support forum up and running:

DFI Press Release
DFI Club Forum (official support forum)

So there was a little bit of drama going on? Oh well, I'm pretty curious as to why DFI waited all this time until the decided to host the official forums for DFI.

Well, DFI-Street was not hosted by DFI, but the admin posted some stuff that DFI didnt like, and DFI ended their sponsership for them, but its best to let dead stuff die.

I think DFI waited to get a new official forum so they could make sure that this new one was upto par

Indeed. I still think its irresponsible to just sponsor a tech support forum and not host your own though.

uh, theres a lot more to it than this....which is a pretty popular rumor around the web. the truth of the matter is the guys over at DFI Street were developing, or had actually developed a pretty pissy attitude, and it had rubbed a LOT of people the wrong way...including customers, companies, and the DFI staff themselves.

Actually, it was probably one of the worst support type sites on the web. We used to refer people over there all the time to get help, but they would always come back talking about how rude the people were.

I don't want you guys to get the wrong idea, or interpret anything, this was actually a big topic of conversation here at CES, and as Paul pointed out was a huge source of drama.

Which is again why I think its irresponsible for ANY company not to host their own tech support forums, or at least closely regulate support communities such as DFI-street. Stuff like this only hurts your reputation, its better not to have a forum rather than let someone handle it for you.

Drew going over for support is a good example.

very true Panda, but its a pretty deep and involved story that I don't want to get into. I also don't want to be like a lot of other sites and post people's dirty laundry....we'll stay away from the drama and focus on things that will actually help people

DFI Street was a terrible forum. They had some good stickies for those people with DFI boards but that was about it. As mentioned, people had bad atittudes that were clearly visible if you lurked around for a while. Not to say everyone was like that.

Why they developed that kind of attitude I don't know. Maybe because they thought they were better than everyone else because they had high overclocking boards or actually knew what all the BIOS Settings did.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220
