Default DFI RS482 PCI-E Problems

I put together my rig this morning and I've been trying to troubleshoot this problem for well over two hours now.

The DFI RS482 has built in DVI-D and VGA, but I have my own videocard that I want to use. I install it just fine in the PCI-E slot, power it up.. not video. I take the card out, plug the monitor into the onboard, no video.

I only get video when I remove my pci-e videocard and use onboard.

I can't seem to figure out whats going on. The videocard is recieving power and is being cooled sufficiently. Its in the slot completely. I've changed the BIOS settings to initialize PCI-E first. Strange thing is they call it PCIEx and not PCI-E. My other choices in the bios were PCI slot and onboard which I do not want.

I've successfully installed windows using onboard.

Thanks for any suggestions.

nevermind. I'm having problems even getting onboard to work now.

The power led is also blinky constantly. Apparently this means that it is in the Power on suspend state or the Suspend to Ram state. what the hell is that?

UPDATE: I managed to make it a solid light so its no longer in suspend.
I also switched out the videocard just in case maybe I had accidently killed my 7800 gt ( :() but I didn't get video with the other card either. I'm going to clear the CMOS again.

I've just about given up on this rig. The big rig with the hardware meant for the matx looks very appealing now and I might just move it over. RMA the mobo... wait for prices to drop and give this system to my bro. I'm sure he'll like it alot.

To me, it sounds like there's a problem with that mobo. I agree with your decision to RMA it.

Are you sure you explored the BIOS thoroughly? There's usually an option to disable onboard video altogether. I can tell you this much - the Init Display PCIEx thing isn't the one you're looking for. I have that option in my Ultra-D board too.

These two statements contradict each other... clarify please?

Edit: I've also noticed that you haven't stated what your power supply is yet. Visit DFI Street and post your problem there if you haven't already found the solution to it. This RMA decision seems like you're jumping to conclusions... no offense.

Yep. I've tried two. I'm going to RMA the board ASAP or get it warrantied at NCIX. I would rather RMA it though....

I moved all the hardware back to the S939 mobo and set it all up on my desk. Everything works fine... this concludes that its the mobo that is causing the problems.

I don't blame you, why dink around for days and then RMA the board. I have had problems in the past with DFI mobo's!!!

For the same money, there is a lot of boards out there that are stable.
