Default C2D on the cheap?

I've recently bought the Gigabyte P35-S3L and I'd just like to say that i am very impressed with this motherboard. Its price/performance value is excellent.

The P35-S3L is 100 bucks Canadian on NCIX or as low as 80 bucks American on newegg.

it comes with 1x pci-e 16x, (I can live w/o sli or crossfire.)
It uses the P35 NB and a ICH9 SB.
One very nice feature, is that this motherboard comes with up and down ram dividers. You can run your 1066mhz ram at stock with 200mhz fsb, or you can run your 800mhz ram at stock at 333fsb or 400fsb and so on. There are quite a few dividers, and i find this to be very very nice.

The bios is quite good, as it is a gigabyte mobo. The Overclocking menu is fairly well setup. One thing i didn't like about this mobo, was that i couldn't find a menu to mess with the ram timings. However, there is something that you can do to "boost memory bandwidth" It had options like, standard, turbo and extreme. I'm guessing this loosens or tightens the timings accordingly.

So far i've only made the board do 333fsb, but i intend to push it much further once i get my tuniq tower fixed. I'll post up the highest fsb i hit later on.

I definitely recomend this board to ppl that want INTEL C2D on the cheap.

If its anything like mine you can press Control + F1 on the home screen to access the "hidden" memory timings.
Then they are in the same place as the FSB controls.

This is my next motherboard along with the Q6600 VERY soon. I'm itching to get this Quad Core to see what it can do, not to mention 4 cores. The motherboard is simply amazing. It's the P35 version of the already amazing P965 DS3 (more or less), and it's simply put (like you said) easily the most amazing bang for the buck motherboard. You can use this thing in an ultimate high end system (sans SLI) and it will eat it up.

The DS3 is suppose to be a very good overclocker.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

But then I'd have to find someone to buy my DS2.
And I still haven't found someone to buy my 6800.
meh. I'll stick with stock speeds for now
