| Check this out: ![]() Now this the only Biostar board with heatpipes I can remember, ever! And all solid caps!! And a black PCB!! And it's a very clean design. Man, has Biostar turned them selves around or what?? Ooooo, all the caps in nice orderly lines!! Actually, It's probably better looking than a lot of ASUS boards I have seen!! | Yeah, it does look pretty snazzy.............. EDIT: Kinda surprising, Biostar has always been a "budget" company. Think maybe it's the new ECS. (By that I mean finally getting into the enthusiast market?) | I'm Evil | The big problem with BIOSTAR is the same thing thats hurt a lot of motherboard manufacturers, the BIOS, support, and reputation. I think you guys will notice a major jump in product quality from every board producer....the market is tightening up, and you either have to keep up, or be swallowed. | but someone still has to hold up the very cheap boards, because not everyone is willing to shell out $150+ for a sick board |

| Very nice board, with an extremely clean looking layout! Heatpipes aren't to over the top either. But how does it preform? Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| Yeah, Jazzy your right because this board is $170 on Newegg! Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX 2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Silverstone Decathlon 650W Western Digital 250GB SATA II |

| I'm Evil | There are different chipsets and levels depending upon budget and target audience. you'll see budget offerings in the P35 flavor, like ECS's soon to be released model.....but for the most part you have the G33, Nvidia 650i, etc for cheaper builds INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Modder-ator | That is a pretty nice board. I saw that a few days ago but was disappointed to find it is DDR3 only. The DDR2 P35 chipset based board is along Biostar's usual budget lines. However, I think these heatpipes are definitely over rated. They just raise prices and really don't cool that much better. My Abit KN9 SLI motherboard with a very basic heatpipe cooling design overheats ALL THE TIME now that the ambient temperature is warming up and it's driving me nuts. For me, these elaborate heatpipes that connect every single heat-producing piece of silicon on a motherboard is a total waste and would much rather see the R&D invested into better layouts, better components, and better cooling for the individual chips. Also, if you try to upgrade the chipset cooling on these boards, you end up having to remove the heatsinks on the MOSFET chips and power regulation circuitry also (because it is all connected). I find myself having a hard time trying to find motherboards without these extremely elaborate heatpipe cooling systems and I don't like it! Last edited by gvblake22; June 27th, 2007 at 14:42. |
