| Alright, I am building my first PC, and I need some help picking a motherboard that will fit the rest of the build. This is a lower end PC that will be used for high school student work, occasional video editing, and very light gaming (roller coaster tycoon, etc, maybe CounterStrike) Here is the set-up: CPU -75.99 Intel Dual-Core E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA775 Processor Memory -39.99 WINTEC AMPO 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory HDD -42.99 Western Digital Caviar RE WD1600YS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive GPU -59.99 SAPPHIRE 194L Radeon X1650 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 CrossFire Supported Video Card Optical Drive -35.99 LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner Case -49.99 (after rebate) APEVIA X-CRUISER-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case PSU -89.99 OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS ATX12V / EPS12V 600W Power Supply 100 - 240 V CB, CE, CSA, UL, FCC OS -139.99 Microsoft Windows XP Professional With SP2B 1 Pack P.S. -- I don't really want to spend over $80 on motherboard. Previous recommendation: Motherboard -86.99 ($30 rebate) ABIT IB9 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard Any other recommendations and/or comments will be appreciated! | ||||||||||||||

| Gigabyte P35 DS3L I'd also change the videocard. The x1650 is pretty weak. I'd upgrade to a 7900GS or x1950pro. | If you can afford it. Hell, I'd recommend a 8800GTX and a quad-core, but too bad you can't afford it. ![]() Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX 2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Silverstone Decathlon 650W Western Digital 250GB SATA II | ||||||||||||||
