| Normally theres a lot of options that go into choosing a motherboard, if for gaming do you want SLi or Crossfire support, if you want a good overclock, lots of bios options, a certain layout. Intel boards normally cost more then equivalent AMD boards, so for a good LGA 775 board it might run you between 130-150. However, since you seem to be building on a budget, I'm going to go ahead and throw out the Evga nForce 650i Ultra, its an excellent board you can find for around $100, currently $99 on Newegg if you live in the states. Newegg.com - EVGA 122-CK-NF66-T1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail Here is an in-depth review of the board from Anandtech, always best to research an expensive piece of hardware throughly before buying to be sure it has what you're looking for. | you should always check out our Recommended Hardware Lists.... we currently have two sub-$100 boards on the list...... EVGA 122-CK-NF66-T1 NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra Motherboard ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard However, these Recommendation will probably be changing over the next couple weeks as the INTEL Series 3 boards start hitting the market. Also, we'll be posting our review of the eVGA 650i motherboard this coming week. | thats why there are are two there........ If you like INTEL chipsets more than NVIDIA chipsets, as I personally do, then you might wait a few weeks for the Series 3 boards to hit the market. | I got a deal on an XFX 650i Ultra board for $79.99 Canadian. I plan to add a fan to the northbridge heatsink and also install a heatsink/fan on the southbridge.
