| In the case of your budget, I can 100% confidently say grab the Gigabyte DS3, Intel P965 chipset. It's a great chipset for overclocking, and that board is very very solid and very respected here at HL and a lot of sites over the web. It's simply a stellar piece of hardware. | ||||||||||||||

| Also, the new P35 motherboards are a good as well as the nVidia 680i chipset. Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 | DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL | 2GB G.Skill 800MHz | EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB | Silverstone Decathlon 650W | Western Digital 250GB SATA II | ||||||||||||||

Also, YH, I'm not sure a P35/680i chipset would efficiently fit his budget. You know me, those are the first two I would always suggest, but in this case I'm just not sure. Last edited by [Dr. V]; July 14th, 2007 at 13:38. | |||||||||||||||

| About the 680i, EVGA is now making a "Core 2 Duo Overclockers" board retailing for $150 on newegg. Also, the Gigabyte board that ST!X linked to CANNOT DO SLI. You need am nVidia chipset for that. | The Final Word
| eVGA makes outstanding motherboards, as does Gigabyte......I'd strongly recommend the eVGA 680i Series boards (which one depends on whether you plan on SLI, RAID, etc). I'd also strongly recommend the Gigabyte P35 boards, but if you can hold off for a month or two, the new X38 boards, a seriously bad ass enthusiast chipset for INTEL should be out the end of August or so.. love to see it since I'm going to be upgrading three or four systems in the next couple of months with the focus on OC'ing. OP-Yes, the DS3 doesn't do SLI, but they are very capable, stable, OC'ing boards. I use mine for dedicated folders.
