What would you like to know? It's got an old nForce 430 chipset, as opposed the the current nForce 590. What would you be using it for?

Talking

Sometime after Vista is out and seeing if serious problems need to be corrected first, I would like to upgrade using this micro board (or if a better choice comes out soon) in my new set-up.
I will be using for various uses, some work, simple games, internet, music, wi-fi, maybe conect to HDTV and sometime in the future Blu-ray. My devices will only be using SATA and no IDE's.
Also, Since no PC and can really stay up with technology very long and most boards you start out with can only go so far upgrading, till it to is so far out of date, you need to build another system, this mobo might last a few years, so I like to keep the upgrade reasonable.

That board should be fine for the foreseeable future, depending on your requirements (simple desktop, multimedia, gaming, etc)

ASUS P5E3 Premium
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C)

No, this is NOT an nForce4 motherboard! The nForce 430 is the southbridge, the northbridge is the nVidia GeForce 6100 with integrated graphics. Do not confuse this with the nForce4 series chipsets. This is actually the most current IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) chipset available from nVidia on the AM2 or s939 platform.

The 430 is the better southbridge for the integrated graphics chipsets. See the spec charts HERE...

This is a great basic motherboard and I see no reason why it wouldn't serve you well. It has a great layout and good features, but I can't seem to find that particular board available for sale anywhere. The M2N-MX was the closest I could find for ya, but they look to be prettymuch identical. You could also consider the Abit NF-M2 as it is a little more feature rich. It also includes onboard DVI, but that would only be useful if you planned on using the onboard graphics.

If you are hoping to use the onboard graphics for gaming, then you are on the wrong track. But if you need a small form factor AM2 motherboard for simple media use or for gaming with an add-in graphics card, then I would have no reservations about recommending this board to you. DDR2 and PCI-Express is always a great choice for a new computer these days.

Oh yeah..

Hehe, no problem. nVidia's choice of naming is a little misleading though, for sure.

There really isn't much on the Net about this board is there. But in my opinion, surely this has to be the best HTPC board available. Built in Wifi, serial ATA on the back plate (lots of external HD enclosures available with SATA ports now) and a remote control to boot.

The only thing I don't understand is why oh why Asus never put the 6150 chipset on this, instead of the inferior 6100!!! I simply don't get it

Does anyone know Nvidia will be releasing any further chipsets of this type in the near future? I.e. intergrated GeForce.

I'm sure they've got something up their sleeve. nVidia's never been one to lay low when it comes to releasing new products.

But as far as the differences between the 6100 and 6150 chipsets, there really isn't a HUGE difference between them. They are going to perform about equally in games (both very poorly) and the 6150 only has a few extra features over the 6100 (in addition to a slightly higher clock speed), but they probably aren't useful for many people.

This is the only page that worries me a little: http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html
